Video Production Process

Developing a great video production can be inspiring and exciting.   We want you to know what to expect and emphasize that your ideas and message objectives are the inspiration to achieve a final product that meets your expectations.  Here are the basic elements of pre-production, production, and post-production activities.

You don't need to be a video expert to get great results - we'll guide your participation and do all the heavy lifting.  Ready?  Let's go!

Pre-Production

PRE-PRODUCTION ENGAGEMENT AND PLANNING

What message, emotions, ideas do you want to convey?   Our creative team will brainstorm with you to offer possibilities to translate your message and feel into a compelling story.   We will create a concept storyboard, determine studio time necessary, and identify on-location needs.   If you have any existing assets like existing video, music, photography, or graphics, we will determine how these will be used.  Custom graphics, animation, and other elements will be discussed.  If you have a defined budget, we can help identify costs and boundaries to give the most cost-effective solution that meets your goal.   In addition, we will work with you on format for delivery and distribution of the final production.   We will help you identify content that may require copyright clearance or licensing, potential costs, terms, and alternatives such as royalty-free content or original scoring.

PROPOSAL AND ENGAGEMENT

Using the details from the pre-engagement discussion we will provide a detailed proposal with timeline and schedule markers for critical elements that will achieve your project deadline.  This schedule will provide a checklist and approximate completion of the production and post-production processes.

Production

LOGISTICS AND COORDINATION

Once an engagement contract is executed, an interactive schedule with milestones will be available to you throughout the process via supplied weblink.  You will be able to review status, make comments, respond to issues, and request changes.

LightStreet will coordinate with you and take final responsibility for necessary permissions and scheduling of location shoots, and work jointly with you to schedule time and location of interviews, cast, and securing necessary props and extraordinary equipment needs.

FILMING AND RECORDING

LightStreet will coordinate all crew, cast, equipment necessary to capture scene and interview footage in accordance with the live schedule and storyboard including, on-location, studio, aerial and drone captures, recording of audio and/or music performance.

Post-Production

EDITING AND ASSEMBLY

Our post-production team will assemble footage, graphics, still photography, add special effects, music, and deliver a first cut to you for review and discussion.  After we receive your input and requests, we will create a second cut.  If there are complex alternatives or ideas to explore, you may be invited to visit our post-production suite and work interactively to discover the best possibilities.

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING INFORMATION

We audit all content used in your project for use license and/or copyright clearance.  We will coordinate all aspects of obtaining the necessary clearances and advise you of costs, terms (e.g., one-time use, perpetual use in this single production, universal or exclusive licenses).    If the desired content is unavailable or cost-prohibitive to license for your project, we will recommend alternatives such as royalty-free music, stock images, or original scoring using loop content or local artists.   These terms and considerations will usually be a firm inclusion in the engagement contract and a portfolio of documents granting you the negotiated rights will be included.

Delivery and Distribution

DELIVERY

Congratulations on completing a compelling video production that expresses your message and engages your audience!  We will deliver a completed production usually via USB memory stick, depending on length, in the format/codec you request.   We can also help with on-demand streaming distribution.

ARCHIVAL MATERIAL RETENTION

An archival copy will be retained by LightStreet Media, along with all raw and unused assets created for your project for the period specified in the engagement contract.   These assets will be available for developing future production needs you may have.
